Morning of March 6 – A delegation from the Central Plains Agricultural Valley (CPAV), led by Yang Haifeng, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee, visited the School of Agriculture and Biology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The delegation also included Zhu Yuhua, Deputy Director of the People's Congress Liaison Office of Pingyuan Demonstration Zone; Wang Wei, Director of the Office of the People's Congress Liaison Office of Pingyuan Demonstration Zone; Du Juan, Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Talent Department of CPAV; and Wang Zhengchuang, Assistant General Manager of CPAV United Seed Industry Co., Ltd.
The visiting delegation was received by Dean Ai Lianzhong, Vice Dean Ma Chao, Li Wei, Executive Director of the SJTU-Xinxiang Biomedical Innovation Center, along with faculty representatives from relevant research areas. The two sides engaged in extensive discussions on topics including agricultural research innovation, industrial integration and development, and the translation and dissemination of research achievements.
During the symposium, Yang Haifeng provided an overview of CPAV's development journey in integrating research with industry, current progress, and future plans. He noted that leveraging Henan's strong agricultural foundation and innovative vision, CPAV has actively promoted deep integration between universities and research institutes and the agricultural system. Significant progress has been made in areas such as the construction of biological breeding bases, advancement of national-level projects, and the strategic deployment of industrial chains. Yang further elaborated that CPAV has identified four key industries—seed industry, biomedicine, intelligent agricultural machinery, and green food processing. Through platforms such as incubation centers and science and technology innovation hubs, CPAV provides robust support for the implementation of research outcomes from higher education institutions.
Dean Ai Lianzhong shared the school's practical experiences regarding the operational models of agricultural bases, university-industry collaboration, and the translation of research findings. He emphasized that the school is committed to facilitating the practical application of faculty research achievements through multiple channels and expressed a strong desire to deepen resource alignment with CPAV to facilitate the successful implementation of high-quality outcomes in Henan Province.
Vice Dean Ma Chao introduced the school's initiatives related to germplasm resources, research collaborations, and extension activities. He suggested that leveraging the resource advantages of CPAV, the two parties could pursue comprehensive cooperation spanning from fundamental research to the entire industrial chain.
The meeting significantly enhanced the exchange and mutual understanding between the School and CPAV. Both parties expressed their intention to further communicate on potential collaborations in areas such as the co-establishment of research platforms, joint cultivation of talent teams, and collaborative promotion of industrial projects. Looking ahead, both sides expressed optimism about exploring additional areas for cooperation by integrating more of the school's research directions with the distinct advantages of the Central Plains Agricultural Valley.
